When Sarah Westbrook asked me for updated photos for her new yoga platform, I was super excited. She was fully prepared with a look book that we went over, highlighting our favorite images. We also outlined specific yoga poses we wanted to feature to showcase her abilities to her potential clients. I used “recipes” I created and installed on my Nikon D850 to show the client what sort of looks I could create in post-production. I used a mix of umbrellas, gridded softboxes and natural and colored light. I mostly used primes such as 24mm, 35mm, 58mm and the 85mm to capture different ratios between subject and foreground. I also love the purity of primes over zooms. In my experience, it slows down the shoot a little, but it also gave Sarah time to rest between poses.
